The Health Informatics Coordinator is responsible for mastering the EMR Software and the specific workflows of that application for company-wide support. Responsible for the implementation and utilization of the EMR systems required for patient care documentation, billing, etc. Evaluates applications and vendors to best meet the needs of the organization. Provides technical training and support to end users. This position identifies and supports Signature Companies care delivery standards and translates those standards into data, workflow and documentation standards; clinical content; and analytics and clinical intelligence within the organization.

Responsibilities

 

  • Collaborates with leadership to identify, implement and evaluate all informatics education and training needs for new hires, current staff, super users, Medical Directors and students.
  • Functions as a change agent in support of clinical information system/EMR software to ensure that it is adequately meeting the end-user needs and seeks to make improvements as needed.
  • Performs a “gatekeeper” function in the execution of all configuration changes in base EMR platform which limits access to configuration settings/options.
  • Serves as liaison between software vendor and organization for changes and or design modifications to software utilization and optimization across organization.
  • Interacts with IT Project Managers and other IT resources to implement application changes and user settings/logons that direct business and clinical impact.
  • Ability to analyze healthcare data sets for decision making and improvement activities.
  • Ensures timely resolution of day to day issues as identified by end-users or system reports.
  • Ensure the successful implementation of developed manual and automated information systems by performance of the following activities:
    • Coordinate and or conduct quality assurance testing
    • Develop and or maintain end-user training materials
    • Coordinate and or conduct end-user training
    • Develop and or maintain end-sure procedure manuals
    • Develop and or maintain on-line help documentation
  • Demonstrates commitment to providing outstanding customer service to internal and external users.
  • Responsible for company-wide communication of updates and changes utilizing a variety of tools to include; email, audiovisual, presentations, hard copies and intranet.
  • Builds collaborative education and teaching environment with all internal and external users to develop and maintain optimal workflow within and between all agencies and home office departments.
  • Establishes feedback loop to identify and monitor user experiences and needs.
  • In collaboration with leadership team and clinical staff, provides routine EMR enhancements and project support including but not limited to; note review, research, recommendations, impact analysis, workflow analysis, validation, end-user education and end-user communication.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in developing and administrating training needs assessments, analyzes organization needs, and develops organization solutions that have a measurable impact on addressing performance gaps and problems and collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure the strategic direction of training aligns with organization plans.
  • Assists with patient safety alerts by providing system analysis to find system deficiencies or education needs by recommending and coordinating solutions to address identified need.
  • Researches trends and best practices in relation to healthcare application software.
  • Evaluates range, scope, and effectiveness of clinical documentation's tools/standards/protocols in production.
  • Aligns tactical and strategic business goals to technology selection process.
  • Identifies, analyzes and prepares mitigation tactics for risk.

Qualifications/Skillsets

 

  • Must possess a BSN degree from an accredited college or university. Prefer Master’s degree in Informatics, nursing or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Informatics experience, including implementations, optimization, training and maintenance.
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in this state.
  • Experience preferred with Home Base Home Care Software or with Electronic Medical Records and computer documentation systems.
  • Prefer knowledge of Home Health, Hospice and Palliative Care clinical settings, understanding of differing patient care processes with in its clinical settings.
  • Must have experience educating and presenting to clinical professionals.
  • Prefer Nursing Informatics Certification.
  • Must have experience in system analyst or application management experience in implementing, maintaining and training on EMR software.
  • Extensive experience project management skills, strong oral and written communication skills, analytical and reporting skills, and proficiency with MS Office products.  HIPAA privacy and medical research experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of CMS guidelines for post-acute care and services. Knowledge of home health, SNF/ALF and or rehab experience desired.
  • Knowledgeable in the fundamentals of case management, care coordination and/or care transition.
  • Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities.
  • Case management experience within health systems or insurance companies preferred.
  • Experience in discharge planning, home health, post-acute care preferred.
  • Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid and Managed Care Programs
  • Must be able to travel 50% or more per year to Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming and Utah.
